Meanwhile, news has come to the fore that there is a contradiction in the coalition government of Pakistan. Recent statements made by the top leaders of the coalition regarding this issue show that the differences in the government have increased. Significantly, at present, the army chief of Pakistan is Javed Bajwa, who is 61 years old and he will retire on 29 November.

According to reports, PM Shehbaz Sharif has also started discussing this issue with his political allies from Friday. Meanwhile, the country’s Interior Security Minister Sanaullah claimed that PM Shahbaz Sharif is going to make an appointment soon. Sanaullah also said that the delay in the selection of the army chief is not good. He informed that PM Sharif has completed the selection process and the appointment of the new Chief of Army Staff (COAS) is going to happen soon. At the same time, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif revealed that the name of the new army chief would be announced by Tuesday or Wednesday.

An appointment should be done through promotion only:

Zardari On the other hand, Asif Ali Zardari, chairman of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), an ally of the ruling coalition in Pakistan, has said that his party is in favor of filling this post through promotion. The army chief should be selected from the promotion system of the Pak army itself. The former president had said that all the three-star generals were equally qualified and capable to take over as the army chief.

Imran said – Appointment should be like the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court

This statement of Zardari came after the suggestion of former PM Imran Khan. Imran had said that the appointment to the post of Army Chief should be like the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Imran wants an appointment on the basis of merit. PPP leader Zardari said that all three-star generals are equally qualified and capable. The PM will make appointments as per the law.

PM Shahbaz also spoke to Maulana Fazlur Rehman

At the same time, it has also come to light that Prime Minister Sharif has also talked to Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) about the appointment of the army chief. Soon both leaders can also meet.
